You may have read about bois bandé, famed throughout the Caribbean for its aphrodisiac properties. Usually combined with rum for a spicy ‘drink with a difference’, we’ve used the essential oils from the bark of the Richeria grandis tree in our incredible Wonder Balm. Combined with enriching cacao seed butter and intensively moisturizing shea butter, it helps hydrate, calm and tame everything from dry cuticles and flaky lips to unruly eyebrows and parched skin. Encased in our reusable bamboo pot, it’s our new multipurpose beauty hero.
Packing a punch: what else is in Wonder Balm?
Jojoba seed oil
The slightly waxy consistency of jojoba seed oil (which is actually a wax) means it locks in moisture brilliantly. Due to its structure being very similar to that of skin, it’s really easily absorbed and is slow to evaporate so it offers long-lasting hydration. Rich in vitamins B and E, it also contains chromium, zinc and copper and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Clovebud oil is extracted from the dried flowers of the clove bud tree by steam distillation and has a distinctively spicy aroma. ‘Anti’ just about everything - antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic - clovebud oil is an invigorating addition to our Wonder Balm.
Cinnamon leaf oil
Prized by the Romans for its medicinal properties, cinnamon leaf oil is now more commonly used in aromatherapy mixtures. It has a warm, musky scent and helps condition the skin.
